Crazy Game of Phobias by Jata (Gaetano Russo)

Picking up from the underground of Italian Electronic and New Wave of the last three decades, Jata has drawn on his influences and created music that remains timeless and in vogue with the current market. A maestro of synth-pop and electronica, Jata makes music that unites and dips into the psyche of the urban collective. He’s an artist whose music reaches out and simultaneously takes you to a place of reflection and euphoric celebration.

Following the isolation of the pandemic, Jata was inspired to write his latest single, “Crazy Game of Phobias” and make the most of these challenging times. Like a distant cousin of Depeche Mode and The Editors, “Crazy Game of Phobias” is a pristine production, whose sleek vocals and polished synths created a dark wave backdrop for his unravelling soundscape.

Through the customised chopper and fleet of orchestral sweeps, “Crazy Game of Phobias” creates a melodramatic motif and cinematic ambience that synchronise with the emotive lyrics. Along with the flickering synths and brooding bass, “Crazy Game of Phobias” crackles off the grid, like an electrical storm brewing from afar. It’s a great track, whose vocal delivery captures the melancholy and intensity that percolates throughout.
