“Pines” are an alternative  psychedelic, electonic pop band from Manchester, whose polished and diverse sounds make them a very progressive act. With Chris Cooper on vox, Greg Holmes on bass, Dan Round on guitars, Sam Jones on synths, and James Hands on kit, “Pines” are an impressive band and certainly one to look out for.  With their debut EP  “Love Songs From Inside The Sun”, due out in April , the band will be doing a series of local gigs within the upcoming months and their debut single “Redemption” is my “Single of the Week”.

With its back tracking psychedelia and bongo and shuffle beats, “Redemption” takes a trip down baggy Avenue circa 1990. It’s an amazing track, whose mesmerising vocals slither amongst the goth infused Hammond and streaky riffs creating a new wave ambience. An immaculate production, “Redemption” is one of those songs that take you into a trance like state, whilst being awakened by the upbeat and space invader synths that smudge and pitter-patter against the faltering bass.With the the spectral synths and waves of industrial drones, “Redemption” carries a phantom darkness that hovers, crashes and hides in the recesses of the song. Along with the wailing synths, “Redemption” create an eerie horizon that helps the song mutate into a multi-textured and jangly masterpiece.
