Following the success of their album a hAo, Telefís are back in full force with their latest EP Archbishop Beardmouth At The ChemOlympics which reunites members Garret ‘Jacknife’ Lee (U2, REM, Modest Mouse, The Wombats) and Cathal Coughlan (Microdisney, Fatima Mansions) who join forces with the electro-pop pioneer Thomas Leer. Archbishop Beardmouth At The ChemOlympics jangles in the dystopian disco of darkwave and flutters under the glitterball of synth-pop. It’s punk poetry that sings through the tannoy of spoken word and rips up the rule book of Krautrock. It’s a truly original track whose booming beats, loaded bass, crunchy riffs and spectral synths space-travels through the time lines of Industrial-funk.

Like wandering through a parallel universe of existential electronica, Archbishop Beardmouth At The ChemOlympics probes the mind of artificial intelligence and blesses it with a heavy dose of sardonic wit. Through the hypnotic vocals, relaying harmonies and cinematic commentary, Archbishop Beardmouth At The ChemOlympics makes you feel like you have been captured by a cult, and stuck in a Telecommunications TV during the twilight zone.

Archbishop Beardmouth At The ChemOlympics (Thomas Leer Version) twinkles from the stars of synth-pop and tinkles with the mechanics of Industrial funk. Along with the haunting harmonies, Archbishop Beardmouth At The ChemOlympics (Thomas Leer Version) congregates with the metallic monks, whilst worshipping the wonders of electronica. It’s a chrome catharsis, that dismantles the sonic screws and reassembles the original soundscape.

Picadors (voiced by Auntie Joan) is a nostalgic blend of ambient pop and spoken word. It’s a lucid dream, backtracking in time, and reconnecting with an old Irish generation. It’s hauntingly beautiful, whose backdrop of sublime synths ripple and quiver in a vortex of dreampop. Along with the vocal guests and robotic mutations, Picadors With Auntie Joan lives in the future as well as the past. It’s a sentimental flashback, that sinks deeper into beta-waves, whilst being awakened by the jubilant trumpets of yesteryear.

Ballytransnational (voiced by Da and Esther) space splodges into the tribal circle of new wave, that creates an ancestral alliance of spoken word. It’s an idiosyncratic track that flickers from the sunbeams and rollerskates through the dark tunnels of 70s funk. Along with the pitter patter beats and wonky wormholes, Ballytransnational (voiced by Da and Esther) slides down the embankments of Industrial funk and elevates to the dance-pop arena of electronica. It’s an outdoor gathering of sonic solidarity, that speaks from the megaphone of post-house and flies the flag for humanity.

There Goes Waterface (voiced by Mrs. Hegarty) floats through the space zones of synth-pop, whilst colliding with the debris of prog-rock. It’s a hypnotic track that mind-bends your moods and sends you in a trance. Like regressing back to a past life, There Goes Waterface (voiced by Mrs. Hegarty) travels anti-clockwise back to the glitzy glamour of the 1980s and presses the Max Headroom repeat button like a misty mantra. Along with the funky riffs and dry-ice synths, There Goes Waterface (voiced by Mrs. Hegarty) drifts through the generation genres of new wave, whilst creating an eerie ambience.
