Single Of The Day - "Garbage Town" by Sicky

Sicky is a solo artist from the UK whose distinct riffs and vocal delivery drives across the highways of post-punk, whilst reviving in the back streets of garage-rock. Individualistic and original, Sicky travels through the spaghetti-junction of rock, branching off in the directions of Indie-rock, whilst revisiting the poppy ambience of new wave and surfing the jaunty curves of art-rock. He’s a versatile artist, whose music is an idiosyncratic, quirky fusion of experimental rock, that dips and dabbles with the black matter and zany debris of space-rock.

Taken from his forthcoming LP “Garbage Town”, released on 18^th November 2022, “Garbage Town”, the self-titled track has been selected as my “Single Of The Day”. Like a fuzzy trip of nostalgia, Garbage Town stomps in the murky mosh pit of the 90s, whilst warbling in the undergrowth of dark-wave. It’s a catchy track, that wears its angst on the stripey sleeves of college rock, whilst stage diving with a new generation of post-punk bands such as Idles, Slaves and Fontaines DC. It’s very much a track that waves the flag of post-grunge, whilst bopping to the forgotten beats of Brit-pop. Authentic and true to its transitional state, Garbage Town is a crestfallen catharsis, that crawls through the tangled vines of alternative rock and takes a springy step towards a more lightweight horizon.
