Single Of The Day - "Dystopian Mirror" by The Bellwether Syndicate

The Bellwether Syndicate are an alternative rock band from Chicago, whose fierce, striking and uncompromisng music makes them an exciting band to watch live and blow away the cobwebs. Comprised of William Faith (vox, guitars), Sarah Rose Faith (vox, guitars), Philly Peroxide (keyboards, percussion), Stevyn Grey (drums) and Corey Gorey (guitars), The Bellwether Syndicate are a powerhouse of guitar-laden music, whose forthcoming album ‘Vestige & Vigil’, released in 2023, will feature their latest single “Dystopian Mirror”.

Selected as the Manc Review’s “Single Of The Day”, Dystopian Mirror sets the bar high and gives a glimpse into the hardcore, heavy-duty and tribal brotherhood of the band. Mesmerising and raw, Dystopian Mirror prowls and growls in the vaults of post-punk and preens from the dry-iced ambience of new wave. It’s a thunderous track, that pulsates from the bleeding heart of goth-rock and shrieks from the murky mechanics of industrial rock.

Through the angular riffs, bolstering bass and commanding vocals, Dystopian Mirror takes a sludgey stage dive into the pits of hell, whilst reflecting from its shadows.

Selected as my “Single Of The Day”, Dystopian Mirror is reminiscent of The Chameleons, The Killing Joke and Magazine, whilst revelling in the blackened theatrics of doom metal. It’s sheer class that explores the dark side of human nature, whilst creating an all-consuming catharsis.

The Bellwether Syndicate debuted with ‘The Night Watch’ EP in 2013, followed by their 2018 single ‘Republik’.
