Karyn Kuhl is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer from New Jersey, USA, whose pristine vocals, astute lyrics and skilful strumming. puts her in the same league as Sheryl Crow, Suzanne Vega and Kathleen Hanna. As an artist, she is a fierce contender, a cool cat sauntering down the back alleys of punk and picking up the pieces of third-wave feminism.  She is a captivating artist, whose breezy delivery and effortless talent, makes her a natural performer and amazing live act.

Having previously played guitar in the band Sexpod, Kuhl has progressed and evolved as a fully-fledged solo artist. With her latest body of music, Kuhl has worked with New York artist Charlie Nieland who has  produced and played guitars on her latest single “No Traces”. Taken from Khul’s forthcoming album, represented by Dromedary Records, “No Traces” is a fantastic track, which gives the Manc Review no option but to select it as its “Single Of The Month”.

Released on the 12th April 2024, “No Traces” is a force of nature that strums with the earthy grit of alt-country and nestles in the embankments of neo-folk. It’s a highway of intersecting junctions, turbulent tunnels and chaotic crossroads that pulsates from the heartland of neo-blues. It’s a hustle, bustle of urban trails, that spins in the headlights of new wave, whilst sinking in the potholes of post-punk. Through the pitter-patter and elongated synths, “No Traces” flickers in the shutter speed of synth-pop, whilst being air-lifted to the elevated heights of ethereal rock. It’s an eclectic track, that sees the legacy of roots Americana revived with a gloss of art-rock, whilst dissipating in the dry-ice cloud of 80s new romanticism.
