Formed in 2015, TRAITRS are comprised of Sean-Patrick Nolan (Synths, piano, sequencing, programming) and Shawn Tucker (vocals, guitar, bass guitar, lyricist). Based in Toronto, TRAITRS are a creative collective, whose brooding intensity percolates within the chambers of new-wave, goth, industrial and Post-punk. A dynamic duo, TRAITRS are purveyors of blending the delights of raw emotion with a polished and pristine soundscape. A duality of innovation and retro-rummaging. TRAITRS are a dramatic burst of abstract ambience, unravelling emotion and cinematic substratosphere.
Having been busy working on their album “Horses in The Abattoir”, due for release on the 19th November 2021, TRAITRS have been making waves with their new single, “Oh, Ballerina”. Released on 13th August 2021, “Oh Ballerina” is an immaculate production, that glides within a synth-pop stadium, tilting towards a Nu-Metal arena, whilst lingering amidst the dry-ice nostalgia. Through the ponderous piano and velvet vocals, “Oh Ballerina” is reminiscent of new wave glamour, trending towards the goth-wave aesthetics of neo-classicism. It’s a track that shimmers from the shadows and gleams from the light, whilst seducing the senses in a state of dark-wave romanticism.
For anyone who craves the sensibilities of Peacock Punk, the flamboyancy of art-rock and the theatrics of baroque-rock, then “Oh Ballerina” should definitely be on the top of your playlist. It’s a captivating track, a renaissance roam, that lifts the barre for alternative rock and leaps through it’s proscenium arch with grace and grit.
