Lusitanian Ghosts are a Portuguese-Canadian-Swedish alternative neo-folk, baroque-pop, country-folk, rock band whose infectious songs create a campfire collective that warms the heart and nourishes the soul. Comprised of Neil Leyton, Mikael Lundin (a.k.a. Micke Ghost), João Sousa, Omiri, O Gajo, Abel Beja and Janne Olson, Lusitanian Ghosts is an ever-evolving band, whose guest artists create a fluidity of sounds and bohemian ambience. Through the acoustic strums, militant beats and melodramatic vocals, Lusitanian Ghosts create a powerhouse of jittery energy and windswept theatrics, that is both celebratory and politically charged.
Ahead of their second LP, “Exotic Quixotic’ released on November 19th 2021, Lusitanian Ghosts have been making waves with their new single, “Soul Deranium“, which has been selected as my Single of the Day.
Through the velvet vocals and smooth delivery, Soul Deranium glides under the glitter and gold of glam rock, whilst preening under art-rock skies. It’s a sublime track, that jangles and resonates in a fervent fleet of racing riffs and bobbing bass. Like Bryan Ferry meets Marc Bolan in a forest of wild dreams, Soul Deranium is a crooning catharsis, a rush of adrenalin, that gleams and mediates whilst chasing utopian fantasies. Through the interval of stripped down acoustics and clapping beats, Soul Deranium creates a surge of neo-folk, whilst dusting down its glad-rags and dances under the stars.
Soul Deranium is out now, available everywhere online, including Spotify, Apple
Music and Bandcamp, where the full ‘Exotic Quixotic’ album, slated for release on November
19, is already available for pre-order via the European Phonographic label.
