EP Of The Month - Falun Gong Dancer by Telefís and Jah Wobble

Telefís are an alternative electro-Krautrock infused duo from Ireland whose off-kilter, idiosyncratic and experimental music rips up the rule book and starts all over again. They are a duo whose intermix of spacious interludes and packaged post-punk creates an aloof ambience of Sci-fi dystopia, electro breakdance and cyber-celebration.

Comprised of Cathal Coughlan (Microdisney/The Fatima Mansions) and Garret Jacknife Lee, (producer-U2/R.E.M/Taylor Swift) Telefís are new wave innovators, music makers of a technological age that shake up the sounds of electronica and give it a space-synth sheen. They are a versatile act, accomplished musicians of a high calibre, whose music creates an atmospheric backdrop of intrigue, suspense and existentialistic obliqueness.

Following the success of the “Mister Imperator” EP, released on 5th November 2021, Telefis have teamed up with the legendary Jah Wobble and released their three track EP “Falun Gong Dancer”. Ahead of their ‘a hAon’ album, which is due for release on March 4th 2022, “Falun Gong Dancer” is a three-fold mix, comprising of “Falun Gong Dancer”, “Falun Gong Dancer (Dub)” and “Falun Gong Dancer (Donkey’s Grudge Dub). It’s a spiked cocktail of ambient amphetamines that heightens the senses and takes you on an all-nighter of euphoric highs and electronic elation.

Falun Gong Dancer is a space-synth time traveller into a galaxy of industrial Funk, riding on the gravitational waves of dub. It’s a hypnotic haze of ambient-pop, colliding with the gravelly grit of post-punk , whilst astral travelling with the cosmic crooning, that ripples amongst the chemtrails of ethereal-dance. It’s an immaculate work of art, that provides a portal into the 5^th dimension of experimental pop, whilst disco-diving into the final frontier of electronica.

A captivating EP, Falun Gong Dancer is a sonic shuttle of Krautrock, that auto-pilots into the dark matter of electronica, amongst the eerie chimes, space-judders and celestial clatter. Like a space-exploration, Falun Gong Dancer orbits through the white noise of space-rock, whilst feeling the cool breeze and empty vacuums of Industrial rock.
