Single Of The Day - "Journey To The Edge" by Othered

Othered is a collaborative recording project from Oakland, whose striking music, and thunderous energy leaves no stone unturned. Comprised of KnightressM1 (aka Emily Palen) and Henry Austin Lannan, Othered were borne in 2020 form the isolation and uncertainty of the pandemic. A great meeting of minds, both Palen and Lannan are purveyors of alternative rock, whose intermix of melodic and melodramatic tracks, prowl in the undertow of sludge metal, reverberate from the drones of doom metal, collide with the cosmic dust of prog-rock, and rumbles from the remnants of post-punk. They are a firebrand of artistic expression, that fuel a burning desire for truth, unity and transformation and whose debut single “Journey To The Edge” has been selected as my “Single Of The Day”.

Journey To The Edge voyages to the dystopian frontiers of thrash metal, whilst taking a quantum leap into the mosh-pit of Doom Rock. It’s electrically charged catharsis that spits fire in the heat of the moment and reflects deeply during a time of emotional discord. Through the heavy duty riffs and robust beats, Journey To The Edge comes at you with a formidable force, grabbing you by the jugular and stopping you on your tracks. Along with the stunning vocals of Palen, Journey To The Edge flies from the wings of ethereal-rock, whilst maintaining a grittier and resilient edge. As a front lady, Palen oozes charisma like a fierce Warrior, riding high on her chariot, whilst renewing her energy from the ashes of hell.

Featured on the forthcoming album “Othered Vol. 1′, released on 15^th April 2022, “Journey to the Edge”, is now available via all digital platforms.

On April 15th 2022, ‘Othered Vol. 1’ will be released digitally across online platforms and also available as a limited edition of gold-coloured vinyl. Only 150 copies are being pressed with heavy-weight gloss stock jacket and black card stock insert printed in silver and gold ink. The album can be ordered directly from the artist via Bandcamp.
