Single Of The Day - "You Me And Everything Else" by Friendmaker

Friendmaker are an alternative folk band from Ireland whose captivating music draws comparisons with Elliott Smith, Bright Eyes, The National, Damien Rice, Father John Misty, and The Snow-Patrol. Comprised of David Marron (vocals and guitar), Maolíosa McMahon (vocals and keyboard), Paul Finn (guitar and vocals), Paul Markey (bass) and Fintan Marron (drums), Friendmaker are true troubadours, pensive poets whose music cuts to the bone and send shivers down the spine. It’s music that goes back to the roots of folk music , that adds a meticulous layer of Indie rock, whilst classically crafted. Having been busy in the studio, Friendmaker have released their debut track, “You Me And Everything Else”, which has been selected as my “Single Of The Day”.

You Me And Everything Else is a melancholic breeze, that tinkles from the heart and reflects from its soul. It’s hauntingly beautiful, whose stripped down acoustics lays bare the deepest sentiments of the track. Through the beguiling vocals, and tender lyrics, You Me And Everything Else, unravels like a film reel, whilst peering through the lens of love, truth and spiritual growth.

It’s a cinematic catharsis that glides on the waves of neo-folk and ebbs and flows towards the shores of orchestral pop. Through the elongated synths and flutter of piano-tinkles, You Me And Everything Else rises like a sunrise, whilst peering on the horizon of baroque rock. Along with the backtrack of riffs, You Me And Ever Else, surfs the tides of neo-psychedelia, whilst dipping its toes in the foam of synth-pop.

On March 3rd 2022, ‘You, Me & Everything Else’ will be released via the band’s own imprint House of Strange Vinyl and will be available everywhere digitally, including Bandcamp.
