Single Of The Week – “Come Out Of The Dark” by London Plane

London Plane are an alternative rock band from NYC whose powerful and dramatic stance, rotates from the time zones of new wave prevalent in the late 70s & early 80s and consolidates with the polished production of third wave post-punk. They are a band that uproots the foundations of past glories and redefines the soundscape with a cinematic ambience. They are a mesmerising band, whose alternating vocals are reminiscent of all the greats, from Peter Murphy, to Siouxsie Sioux, to Karen O, Richard Butler and Ian  McCulloch. Comprised of David Mosey (guitar and vocals), Jessica Cole (vocals), Bryan Garbe (drums), Grant Parker (bass), Julian Tulip (synths) and Kristofer Widholm (guitar), London Plane are a charismatic band, who draw you in as they effortlessly cross over into an array of genres of that classic Indie band.

They are the real deal, the bona-fide rock band that carries the baton of post-punk and adds a firebrand of individuality, originality, dark romanticism and progression. They are a collective that injects a strong dose of showmanship, with a beguiling breeze of dark-wave aesthetics and gusty glamour, that revives all that is majestic and cultured in an art-house of contemporary colours and solarised sonics.

Ahead of their album “Bright Black”, released on June 17th 2022, London Plane have released the singles ‘Francesco (Italiano)’ and ‘Watch That Madman Go’, and whose latest single Come Out Of The Dark has been selected as my Single Of The Week.

Like travelling in a lucid underworld of subconscious states, Come Out Of The Dark auto-pilots through the pensive pathways of neo-psychedelia, whilst glimpsing through the cracks of prog-rock. It’s a captivating track that floats through the plasma of post-punk and collides with the remnants of glam-rock. It’s a chimerical wonder that space-times through the dusky debris of dreampop and illuminates from its reverie radiation. Through the jaunty riffs, Come Out Of The Dark wanders through the three-dimensional zones of Indie-rock, whilst descending into the shadows of dark-wave. Along with the speckled synths, Come Out Of The Dark revisits the space-stations of new-wave and rises from the ashes to ashes of art-rock. Along with the alluring vocals, Come Out Of The Dark drifts through the cosmos of ethereal rock, whilst elevating beneath showers of shoegaze.
