Single Of The Day - "Maison" by Seal Party

Seal Party are a neo-soul collective from San Francisco whose eclectic tracks stomp from the heart of post-punk and revives the wonders of neo-psychedelia, funk, Mod, new-wave, prog-rock, experimental, baroque-rock, neo-classicism, sophisti-pop and neo-gospel. They are a great live band, who do what it says on the flyer, that lift their vibe and attracts their tribe, in a grandiose of improvised art. It’s music that goes back to the basics of rock n roll and hangs out in the smoky rooms of 70s RnB. Through the velvet vocals and high calibre of musicianship, Seal Party deliver the goods with an opulent charm, that is rich in quality and ever-evolving in sound.

Having been busy recording their debut album MMXXII, which is released on 5^th August 2022, Seal Party have been making waves with their latest single Maison. Released on 10^th June 2022, Maison has been selected as my Single Of The Day.

It’s a great track, that showcases the versatility and low-key ambience of Seal Party, that swings from the underground scene of neo-jazz, and creates a free-flow of celebratory sounds. Through the mellow tones and laid back poise, Maison soothe the senses whilst delving deep into the baritone basslines of classic soul. It’s a smooth operator, a breezy spin, that dances with a jubilant high of sophisti-pop.

Uplifting and infectious, Maison unites the timeless luminaries of a golden age and adds a spontaneous spurt of subdued neo-psychedelia. Through the farfisa fuzz, sassy trumpets and gospel-esque harmonies, Maison congregates in the heart of a community, whilst reaching out to a soul collective. Along with the bongo beats, springy riffs and piano flutters, Maison revives the grassroots of neo-blues and neo-funk whilst taking an easy-going excursion to a baroque-shore.

As of June 10th 2022, the Maison single will be available on all digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music and Bandcamp, where the full ‘MMXXII’ album can also be pre-ordered. On August 5th 2022, the digital version will be released via New Age Distribution and the CD released by X Racer Productions.
