Dmitry Wild has it all. He’s an artist that was really born to make music and share his talent with the rest of the world. He’s that rare breed that puts the sparkle back into music and oozes that elusive star quality. A diverse artist, Wild effortlessly alternates between the dark crooning reminiscent of Nick Cave, and jitter with an unhinged energy likened to Iggy Pop, the New York Dolls and early Adam Ant. Having been busy gigging, and appearing on radio shows locally and across the globe, Wild has been busy making his LP Electric Souls, which has been receiving rave reviews. Released on 14th October 2022, Electric Souls features the track “Sweetest Thing”, which has been selected as my “Single of the Week”.
A great track, Sweetest Thing trembles in the seismic waves of jangly-rock whilst diving into the deep sea of noise-rock and unearthing lost relics. What could be a Jesus and Mary Chain’s B-side, also resurrects the archetypal spirit of the rock–god reminiscent of the late 60s and early 70s. It’s a timeless piece that revisits past glories, whilst adding its own individualistic brand of rock prowess. It’s a track that appeals to all the die-hard music lovers, and those who appreciate the sheer quality and staying power of a true artist. It’s a great all-rounder, that descends from the recesses of punk, preens in the limelight of glam-rock, and sidewalks the wild side of experimental rock.
Delivered with raw emotions, Sweetest Thing jumps centre stage, swirling with the spiked riffs and concentric circles of neo-psychedelia. Along with the screechy sonics, reverberating riffs and beatnik beats, Sweetest Thing takes a mild excusion down the avenues of art-rock, whilst unhinging the looping riffs of proto-punk. It’s through the impeccable vocals of Wild, and authentic delivery, Sweetest Thing is testament to Wild’s theatrical and charismatic presence as an artist.
